My buddy took me out on his flats boat this morning. We went out of Anclote Park at 630am and went straight to the island for some redfish action. TONS of mullet but zero redfish. we were able to sight cast on a few but they were lockjawed. we made our way around the island and drifted through the middle for about an hour. I landed 2 redfish.... one keeper at 19". After giving up on reds we decided to go for trout. We landed 1 keeper at 18" and called it a day by 1:30pm. Saw a nice 40"+ kingfish cruising the channel all by itself. After lunch, another friend called and wanted to go back out of New Port Richey. So we hit the tackle outlet and stocked up on more gulps and hit the flats. we landed several more redfish, all just under keeper size. but we had constant trout action. We kept 4 between 17" and 19". My other buddy landed a nice cobia and a jack on clearance powerbaits. The cobia was short... i estimate 26-27" fork length. We called it a day again at 7:45pm. once again gulps jerkbaits prevailed... who needs live bait. I get so bored just sitting there waiting for something to happen. I can't remember what color produced the most because i carry at least 7 colors. I think its really just the white jighead. My choices for Gulp Colors: New Penny Glow Royal Sapphire (i think thats the name) Nuclear Chicken Rootbeer Camo Sardine Natural andddd i'm missing at least 2 more colors.... i guess thats more than 7. i change colors alot depending on water clarity and depth.
