Fly Fishing with Brodin Nets In this article I am going to tell you about my experiences fishing with the Brodin Ghost Net.
Brodin Ghost Tailwater First... I will just save you the suspense, I LOVE this net. I spend a lot of time fly fishing the San Juan River with two extremely small midges. The two biggest problems that I faced when netting fish there with my old net were: 1. My flies would get hooked and line would get tangled in the net. My flies would often penetrate the rope material that the net was made out of and get stuck. There was a good chance that I would destroy the fly or have to cut the net to get it out. This was extremely frustrating, especially when the fish were hitting and I just wanted to get my line back in the water! 2. My net was too small in diameter to land big fish. I regularly catch fish that are 20+ inches on the San Juan so I need a large net. Brodin Nets more than solve these problems for me. My favorite feature of the Brodin is the material that the net is constructed out of. The fishing net is made of thermoplastic rubber. Your flies won't get caught in this material and your line is much less likely to get tangled. The Tailwater version of the Brodin Ghost also is plenty big to land that 25 inch brown. I like the long handle, which makes it a lot easier especially when you are landing fish yourself. The net has a clip that unhooks extremely easily from a fly fishing vest by just pinching your fingers. The Brodin Ghost Tailwater is a bit expensive compared to most other nets, but in my opinion it's worth every penny if you are fly fishing someplace that has the potential to produce really big fish. A great place to buy the Brodin Ghost Tailwater online is RiverBum.com
