The Sage Z-Axis Flyrod Review - A Premium Fishing Rod For The Serious Fly Angler
I was recently on the San Juan River and got to talking with this guy who was fishing the same hole as me. We got to talking about fishing equipment and started talking about our rods. I fish a Sage Launch and this other guy fishes a Sage Z-Axis. We were both curious to try out the other's rod so we traded for about half an hour.
I must say that I was very impressed with the Sage Z Axis rod. His rod was a four section, nine foot five weight. The rod casts great and handles fish like a gem. This rod is more fast action than my Launch which gave me a bit more casting distance. The Z Axis is also extremely light weight.
The Sage Launch is $220 vs. $630 for the Z-Axis. My opinion is that if you're a hardcore fly fisherman that you should go for the Z Axis. You will likely be able to cast further and more accurately. If expense is an issue than go for the Launch and you won't be disappointed.
