The Smart Fisherman's Fishing Techniques Fishing is great fun! Whether you fish for a living or for pure hobby, you have to outsmart the fish to be successful out of the water. Every smart fisherman has his own fishing techniques that allow him to catch an abundance of fish. You need to adapt your techniques to the habitat and weather conditions. To be a productive bass fisherman you need to be knowledgeable about the weather. Bass fishing is often most productive during the spring spawn and in the summer. You also need to consider whether the fishing will be most effective close to shore or out in open deep water. A good way to access shallow coves is with a Sea Eagle Inflatable Boat or Outcast Fish Cat 4 Float Tube. If you're fishing deeper water than I would recommend trolling with a downrigger or bottom fishing depending on the species that you are pursuing. If you're going to be fly fishing than you might want to consider a investing in a Sage Z Axis Fly Rod or Sage Launch Fly Fishing Rod. For a reel I would recommend either the Ross Airius, G. Loomis Venture Reel or Sage 2500 Series Drag Fly Reel. When you are fishing in the deep, make sure that your boat is fully equipped with the safety devices as well as devices that will help you to catch fish. Check out the Hawkeye Handheld Depth Finder Sonar System PX, Norcross Marine Sonic Laser Digital Fishing Fishing Scale XP and Hawkeye F33P Portable Handheld Fish Finder with WeedID. Some fishermen use trolling techniques for deep sea fishing or off-shore fishing to catch more fish. Also... don't forget about fishing at night - it can be very productive. Clear water can be good in certain conditions because the bass can see your lure well, however, in other conditions clear water can be unfavorable. When the water is clear I usually Kicktail XL5 Bass Fishing Lure because the lure looks so much like a real shad. Largemouth bass often prefer a bit murkier water though. The contour of the underwater terrain is also important to consider in bass fishing. The aforementioned depth finder by Hawkeye can be very helpful with this. The choice of bait is also crucial. Live bait is a great option. If you're fishing with live bait than pick up a Bass Pro Bait Cast Net. As a beginner, you may have the best luck fishing small lakes and in the coves of big lakes. Bass fishing in the rivers can also be productive. Also check out deep holes for catfish. Check out the article catfish fishing 101.
