Imagine that you are fly fishing the beautiful flats of the Florida Keys for bonefish. You are stripping in your fly and a large bonefish hits. I know that I am rough on my fly fishing reels. I am more concerned about catching fish than about making sure my reel doesn't get dropped, dinged or dunked. The Orvis Battenkill Midarbor Reel is as durable of a reel as you will find for the money. My reel has been bathed in saltwater, dropped on concrete and it still has a silky smooth drag. The Mid-Arbor reel requires little to no maintenance.
The Orvis Battenkill Midarbor V is perfect for bonefish and other saltwater fly fishing. It will hold over 200 yards of 30 pound backing – and for some of those bruising bonefish you will need it. The Battenkill II and Battenkill III are incredible trout reels. If you're fishing for striper than go for the IV.
