The Shimano Calais 4x8 DC Baitcast Reel is an absolutely top quality fishing reel. The Calais DC is the most technologically advanced fishing reel on the market. The digital brake is an amazingly fine innovation that prevents backlash at spool rotations even in excess of 50,000 rpm.
The Shimano Calais DC Baitcast Fishing Reel has a very smooth drag and lots of cranking power. It's also very durable. I have heard of fishermen dunking them in saltwater and the reels still worked fine afterward.
The best part of the Shimano Calais DC Reel is that you never have to worry about backlashes. We have all dealt with bird nests and they are no fun especially when the bite is on.
The Shimano DC Baitcast Reel has four different modes for different types of fishing.
