Fishing in Florida is easy, exciting and fun. There are so many productive places to fish in the state - it's not stretching the truth to say that if you see some water and it's more than a few inches deep, there's probably fish to be caught. Small golf course ponds for example can often have some of the hottest bass fishing to be found. FL also has great weather and can be fished year round.
The largemouth bass is the best known and most popular freshwater game fish in Florida. Largemouth are found statewide and have fantastic growth rates. Florida is an outstanding location for catching trophy bass.

Central Florida offers not only Lake Toho, which is the most popular lake of the Kissimmee Chain, but the famed Stick Marsh-Farm 13 fishery as well. Lake Toho is a relatively shallow 18,800 acre lake that is covered with various types of aquatic vegetation that serve as effective bass cover. Toho is approximately 9 miles long and only a couple miles wide.
Fishing live bait such as wild shiners can produce some trophy fish. However, many lunkers are taken on soft plastics, Carolina rigs, Rat's Traps, crank baits, soft plastic jerk baits, and hard plastic jerk baits are also productive depending on the conditions.
Lake Okeechobee is also a famous Florida bass lake. The Seminole Indian name "Okeechobee" actually means "big water," an appropriate title for the largest freshwater lake in the United States. The lake is approximately 37 miles long by 30 miles wide with an average depth of almost 10 feet. Okeechobee produces more 8 plus pound bass than any other Florida lake.
