Bass Pro 100 MPH Goretex Rain Jacket Product Review

Being comfortable and safe on the water is a key factor to performing well. Nothing is more miserable than being wet and cold on the lake.

For years, anglers have had to rely on PVC rain gear, which was ok, but held water and sweat in as well as out. PVC, while it blocked wind and rain, often fit anglers poorly, and was cold. Thankfully, we don't have to deal with the drawbacks of PVC anymore.

Bass Pro Shops introduced a quality product several years ago know as 100 MPH Rain Parkas. The major difference in the 100MPH jackets was the materials used in the Parkas, Bibs, and Pants. The material is known as Gore-Tex. Gore-Tex is a breathable, waterproof, windproof material that while repelling wind, waves, rain, and sleet, allows the material to wick away moisture from you're body. This unique feature allows the gear to provide an action similar to a two-way mirror. Lets the moisture from body perspiration out, as well as keeps the cold rain out.

On the market today, there are several manufacturers that integrate Gore-Tex in their foul weather gear, but none that compare to Bass Pro Shops 100MPH Rain Jackets. 100 MPH gear has been redesigned and is now better than ever! The visor hood has a Velcro chin guard, which can be secured in place to protect and cover most of your face from the elements. The sleeves have articulated elbows, which allow for freedom of movement. One of the coolest features of the Parka is the Neoprene cuff. The cuffs make a watertight seal against your wrists to keep water out of your gear.

There is an awful lot of rain gear choices available to anglers today, and I have owned a lot of them, but when I head to the lake on a cold, rainy day, the 100 MPH Goretex Rain Jacket is on my back. The jacket is available online at www.BassPro.com.

Chuck's Tip:

After a day of fishing, hang your rain gear up in a drafty place for it to dry. If you put it up in a dry box in your boat it will mildew.
