Ardent SmartCull System - Save Time In Bass Fishing Tournaments Author: Chuck Elliott You've got 5 nice bass in the livewell, that's great! But now you've just caught another nice bass, and you have to cull a fish. We can do this the hard way, or the smart way! Here's how painful culling used to be: You have a livewell full of nice fish all about the same size and have to decide which is the smallest fish. So, two fish at a time, you have to take the bass out of the livewell, put them on a culling beam, put the larger fish back in the livewell, and continue balancing fish until you find the smallest one. Sure this system works, but it's slow, and hard on the fish as you have to handle the fish each time you cull. This method also leaves an opportunity for you to drop a fish, since you have to handle the fish so much. The Ardent SmartCull Professional Culling System is a much simpler way to cull fish. The SmartCull System is designed to be used in conjunction with a digital scale such as the Rapala Digital Pro Scale or the Norcross Sonic Laser Digital Scale.
The system is easy; when you catch a fish, weigh it and attach an Ardent marker to the fish's lower jaw. Once the marker is attached firmly to the fish, simply dial in the weight of the fish in pounds and ounces on the top of the marker. Now let's look at the situation using the Ardent Smart Cull System. You still have 5 fish about the same size in the livewell, but now they each have a marker attached to them displaying their weight in pounds and ounces. So, you've just caught a fish that weighs 6 pounds 2 ounces. You open the lid to your live well and quickly see that your smallest fish weighs 3 pounds 6 ounces. So, you take the small fish, put it back in the lake, then attach the marker to the fish you just caught and dial in the new weight. 6 pounds and 2 ounces. You've just saved 10 or 15 minutes of valuable fishing time by using this new method. Another benefit of using the markers is that you don't have to struggle to get the fish out of the livewell. Just grab the marker and pull the fish out. Next time you have to cull fish, make it easy on yourself by using the Ardent SmartCull System. The Smartcull is available online at www.BassPro.com . Chucks Tips: When fishing a tournament, use the product called Catch and Release to sustain your catch throughout the day, and ensure a healthy release back into their natural environment.
