18/1/10 there was a Good party in the lobster Bar last night with the traditional opening day bacon and cabbage and I can tell you Mr. Will Hamill of Dublin may have gone went 12 rounds with his fine opening day 11lbs Spring salmon, but I can tell you there were 20 rounds plus consumed in the liquid department last night in the Lobster Bar and this was proven with the lack of Anglers today on Lough Currane and staying with Currane, all quiet on the SW front, with five or six boats manipulating their flies, Toby's and Repala's. Wind SW then veered SSE light to calm with reasonable cloud cover, amount of rainfall 0.2mm, max air temperature 11.3c. 19/1/10 Lough Currane was at a stand still, and I will quote, Mr. Michael O'Sullivan of Waterville boats and @ lobsterb@iol.ie even a ferry wouldn't have ventured out today on Lough Currane, need I say more. Wind SE fresh to very strong and overcast with light to heavy rain throughout the day, amount of rainfall 9.7mm, max air temperature 10.2c. 20/1/10 All quiet on the SW front. Wind SE light with reasonable cloud cover. Max air temperature 11.0c amount of rainfall 0.3mm. 21/1/10 Again all anglers were looking at Lough Currane because of the wild conditions. Wind SE then veered SW fresh to strong and overcast with light rain and at times heavy throughout the day, amount of rainfall 27.6mm, max air temperature 11.8c. 22/1/10 Lough Currane was like a milk pond all day and even though there was a good flood yesterday my noble Anglers couldn't manipulate their Flies so my noble lure took centre stage and all drew a barbless blank. Just the odd light shower this morning but mostly bright and sunny, amount of rainfall 0.1mm, max air temperature 10.2c. 23/1/10 There was a mighty hard frost last night and parts of Coffee's Bay was frozen but with all that my Noble Gentlemen kept a low profile and considering we had bright sunshine and the lake was like a pancake for the lack of wind, all I can say we anglers always have a good excuse. Water temperature in the Mouth of the Commeragh 6.2C/43f, max air temperature 8.6.24/1/10 Again Lough Currane was on the quiet side with very slack southerly wind and overcast with light drizzle this morning and early this afternoon. Amount of rain fall 3.4mm, max air temperature 9.1c. Just for the record I am doing daily reports and photos on my Blog @ www.salmonandseatrout.com That is all the news from your Gillie and the Waterville Fishery. No Spin No Fly's just Facts.
