Simms G4 Pro Jacket Review – Cold Weather Fishing Rainjacket The winter weather in the Ozarks was killing me. I know that this region is supposed to be mild, but it seemed like every day that I guided during January and February, it was absolutely miserable. The wind would blow, sleet and snow would come at me sideways, and I would wish that I was in a tropical locale, even though the fishing was great. I vowed not to let my bad luck with weather ruin the fun of guiding fishermen on the White River, so I started exploring my options for staying comfortable during the colder months. I have tried chemical hand-warmers, thermal socks and virtually every warmth product available, but nothing seems to help. This is because our body temperature will fluctuate during time spent outdoors. It is important to find a way to let your skin breath without sacrificing warmth. After much deliberation, I decided to fork out some major cash for a Simms G4 Pro Jacket.
Simms G4 PRO Jacket The only reason that I would even consider spending almost $450 for a jacket is because another guide I trust let me try a similar Simms product that he liked. What I realized was that Simms' Gore-Tex material is the most breathable on the market, which keeps me from getting too warm before being exposed to the elements. You definitely do not want to be sweating when going out into sub-freezing temperatures. I also like the fact that I can wear my G4 Pro Jacket when it is mild outside without getting too hot. I can't say that I was excited to try out my Simms G4 Pro Jacket out on that blustery winter day, but I was curious to see how well it would perform. It was remarkable how proper layering coupled with this exceptional product kept me very comfortable during exposure to temperatures that would not reach the freezing mark. The shell repels wind, and this jacket has too many useful features and accessories to list. The pit zips are really nice for staying ventilated and the large back pocket is perfect for stowing a few drinks. The Simms G4 Pro Jacket does not help me catch more fish, but as a notoriously fair-weather guide, it does enable me to earn more money. My winter guide trip tips are up over 30%, primarily because I am happy to stay out on the water until it starts to get too dark to see. Staying comfortable during all weather conditions should be every guide's priority, and I cannot believe that I didn't care enough about myself to get a Simms G4 Pro Jacket sooner. A great place to buy the jacket online is Riverbum.com. Other Simms product reviews: Simms G3 Guide Vest Review Simms G3 Guide Waders Review Simms G4 Waders Review Simms G4 Guide Wading Boots Review
