The sring salmon season is underway and fish are entering the rivers. Unfortunatly we are experiencing heavy spring rains in the Pacific Northwest and the rivers are swelling. The bank andglers on the Cowlitz are still at it but in smaller numbers. The waters are chocolat milk but bait can be used with some sucess. The Kalama River is high and tinted with silt but clearity is fishable. Fly anglers should standby and wahc the weather. A few dry days can bring waters back into shape. The South Fork of the Toutle will spring back into shape rapidly but look for flows between 300 and 600 cfs for optimal fishing conditions. The high moutain lakes are still very cold and there is snow at lov elevations. Most of the lakes can be dificult to reach this time of year but a few warm days can trigger exciting hatches. Tight lines.
