Will you catch more and bigger fish deep sea fishing than fishing from the shore? Most certainly. However, that is not to deny the appeal and effectiveness of surf fishing. Inshore fish species tend to be smaller than offshore fish species. That is not to say that fishing from the beach or off of a pier does not have its advantages though. A big advantage of surf fishing is that it is much cheaper than deep sea fishing. For example, you can catch a bone fish from the shore and it will cost you 15 bucks for some bait and some gas. Fishing from a boat costs so much more. The advantage that boaters have is that they have access to much better fishing spots lots of the time and can fish deep channels that may hold a lot of fish. For deep sea fishing a fishermen can use a fishfinder and find schools of pelagic fish. This is another huge advantage of deep sea fishing from a boat. Locating the fish is oftentimes half the battle.
