Fly Fishing For Smallmouth Bass In The Devil's....

I am going to tell you about one of my favorite places to go fishing in the world. It's the cleanest river in Texas... the beautiful Devil's River. If you put in a kayak at Baker's Crossing you are in heaven. There is great fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass. You can also successfully wade many parts of the river. The Devil's River has some monster catfish too if fishing stinkbait with a spinning rod is your thing. I like to camp right alongside the Devil's river and fish and swim during the day. There are some fun places to camp right where the river crosses highway 163 (Juno Road). I just set up my Marmot Aeros 3P Tent right along the river. It's great.

I would recommend fly fishing with streamers (clousers minnows, wooly buggers, etc.) upstream of the bridge. Downstream of the bridge has great largemouth bass fishing. Most of the time the water is very clear and sight fishing is a definite possibility. If you're going to do this than you'll want a good pair of polarized sunglasses; I recommend the Smith Hudson Polarized Fly Fishing Sunglasses.

Fly fishing the Devil's River is tremendous fun. If you live in Texas than I would definitely make an effort to fish there at some point.
