Lake Texoma, which straddles the Texas and Oklahoma, is a huge reservoir on the Red River. Texoma is famous for its striped bass as well as for its monster catfish fishing. The one time world record blue catfish was pulled out of Lake Texoma a few years ago, and dozens of charter fishing boat operations exist in which anglers regularly pull in their daily limit. My favorite fishing spot in the area is actually the Red River below the dam. A healthy striped bass population exists here as well as a good population of drum and crappie. I like to go fishing in a kayak or small boat and cast out a large clousers with my nine weight loaded with sinking line. My boat of choice is the Sea Eagle Inflatable Fishing Boat. Vary the speed that you strip in your fly and get ready to catch some awesome fish. You can also fish from shore or wade if the water is not too high. Lake Texoma is just about an hour north of Dallas and is one of the finest striped bass fisheries in the entire world. Make it a priority to get up there and fly fish or fish light tackle. It's a blast. Eisenhower State Park has some great camping right alongside the lake. I like to just set up my Marmot Aeros 3 Person Tent and camp and fish.
