Default Catching snapper

Try using a slip sinker rig, 1/4 ounce led or heavier depending on the current. I like lighter weight. I use 15 to 25 pound floro leader and a 2/0 Owner hook. Check here for a more indepth look Mangrove Snapper

Anyone else that would like to chime in please do.

I actually have better luck when I use a 1/0 hook or a size 1 hook. I can't tell you which weight to use, but I would experiment until the way you have keeps your bait down on the bottom by the pilings. I usually use 1oz 1 1/2 oz but never more than 2 oz.
