I just wanted to get a general sense of how Adults teach their children how to fish. If you can answer these questions to the best of your knowledge that would be very helpful.
What experiences if any, do you have of any child not liking to fish?
What age did you begin to fish?
Who taught you how to fish, or were you self taught?
Did you initially enjoy fishing at an early age?
Were there any limitations to you enjoying fishing? For example; not having the coordination to cast, no patience, poor tackle, no support from parent...etc.

Here is what I have seen...

pretty much any kid, boy or girl, gets excited by the thrill of a fish at the end of their line and they have a great feeling of accomplishment when they bring the fish in.

Other elements that go along with fishing, such as line tangles and fishing for a long time without catching anything, can definitely turn a kid off to the sport.

I personally went fishing a tiny bit with my family and my uncle when I was a kid, and then I got really into it on my own in college. I taught myself a lot of things and picked up on other skills from other fishermen that I fished with.

I would say that the biggest reason why I didn\'t get into fishing earlier is that neither of my parents were big fishermen. If I got to experience the thrill of battling a big fish earlier in life I am sure I would have developed my passion at a much younger age.
